1. Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Helpline Centre, Chennai. This org assists ESM in Pension Matters, Hospital, Assured Decent Last Rites (ADLR) Grant disbursed through dependent canteens (Rs.5000), schools, colleges/hostels, providing temporary accommodation for individual and family for 03 days when they visit Chennai to sort out personal problems. 2. Army Welfare Placement Node (AWPN). This org facilities the ex-army pers, their wards including widows to find suitable job post after retirement. Registration amount for Offrs – Rs.750, JCOs-Rs.500, OR-Rs.300, Dependents – RS.500 and Widow/Widow’s ward – No charges. 3. Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS). Caters for medicare of all ESM in receipt of pension including disability and family pension, sons upto 25 years age, unmarried daughters dependent parents whose income is less than Rs. 3500/- pm, mentally/physically challenged wards for life and divorced/widow daughter whose income is less than Rs. 3500/-pm. All ESM who are drawing pension and have retired prior to 01 Jan 96 are exempted from payment of contribution under ECHS. Contact for further details – 044-22314274, (OIC) 044-22330790.

4. Enrolment into DSC. After retirement from service it is good opportunity to earn more money and improve your good livelihood in modern socio economic scenario is to join DSC. All eligible ESM Can approach nearest Army Recruiting office/Regimental Centres for enrolment into DSC (within five years).

5. Exemption From Toll Tax. Defence personnel in active service and their families are exempted from paying fee on production of Identity Card.

9. Old Age Home (NIMMADHI). This is a facility run by ladies from civil and defence background. All ESM/widows who have nobody to look after them can stay here. Location – No. 20, Raja St Extension, Raja Annamalai Puram, Chennai-600 028, Tele – 044-24353355.

12. CONCESSIONS AND BENEFITS EXTENDED BY STATE GOVT (DSS&A BOARD)

  • Reservation in Group ‘C’ posts – 5% Group ‘D’ posts – 10%, Forest Guards – 10%, Forest Watchers – 5% and 25% in NCC Department (for the post of Lascars, Drivers, Watchmen) Basic Service 10%, Live Stock Inspector course – 5%.
  • Age relaxation for appointment of State Govt Service up to 53 years for OBC/SC and 48 years for others.
  • Stipend of Rs. 1000/- pm to Ex-Servicemen Trainees in ITIs.(Education scholarship)
  • Financial assistance of Rs. 5000/- to widows on death of their husband by DSS&A Board and Demise grant of Rs. 5000/- through Record office.
  • Lifetime monthly grant of Rs. 1000/- to the aged Ex-servicemen and the widows towards maintenance of those who have not been able to find suitable employment or not in position to earn by working.
  • Financial Assistance of Rs. 10000/- to any one daughter’s marriage of ESM/widow.
  • Scholarships/stipend to children of Ex-Servicemen studying in vocational, professional, computer and technical course.
  • Lifetime grant of Rs. 2000/- pm to War Veterans and Rs. 1000/- pm to their widows who have served during World War and who are not in receipt of pension/gratuity.
  • Lifetime grant of Rs. 1000/- pm to totally blind ESM/widows provided they are not in receipt of any assistance from other sources.
  • Lifetime grant of Rs. 1000/- pm to those affected by Leprosy/ Paraplegic and tuberculosis `and life time grant of Rs. 1000/- to cancer patients.
  • Grant of Rs. 50,000/- for major surgeries, such as kidney transplantations or open heart surgery to non pensioners ESM.
  • Re-imbursement of 75% interest subsidy on loans available by ESM/ widows upto a max Rs. 5 lakhs and 100% of interest on loans available by the Self-Help Groups upto a max of Rs. 7.50 lakhs for self employment ventures.
  • Cash grant, Cash in lieu of land and Annuity to Gallantry Award Winners.
  • Maintenance Grant of Rs. 1000/- pm to disabled Ex-Servicemen undergoing training at Queen Mary Technical Institute, Kirkee.
  • Payment of Rs. 1000/- pm to inmates of Nimmadhi Illam for destitute Ex-Servicemen/widows at Chennai.
  • War Service Incentive of Rs. 750/- pm to parents who had sent their only son/daughter to the Armed Forces and Rs. 1000/- to those who have sent their more than one son/daughter.
  • Subsidy of Rs. 50,000/- for construction of Industrial Sheds/ purchase of plots to Ex-Servicemen.
  • Financial Assistance upto Rs. 3000/- to ESM towards purchase of hearing aids. Spectacles, artificial dentures and artificial limbs.
  • Grant upto Rs. 15,000/- or actual for alleviation of distress due to fire, flood, civil riots, accidental deaths and other natural calamities.
  • Matching grant of Rs. 100/- pm to the TB/Leprosy patients who are in receipt of MACF Grant from Indian Red Cross Society .
  •  Gift articles worth of Rs. 1000/- to Leprosy patients on the eve of Deepavali Festival.
  • Subsidy of Rs. 1850/- to the daughter of Ex-Servicemen trained in the tailoring units run by Zilla Sainik Board for owning a sewing machine.

  2. Pallavaram Palm Grove Boys Hostel monthly fees suddenly rise to Rs 10,000/- from 01 Mar 2019, The monthly subscription should be separate for Serving and Retired personnel. Please consider the matter on priority basis.
